When Linden got to about 18 months, he had a word explosion and his babbles turned into actual words! He was already using “up” so we would pick him up but all of a sudden he started using a new word every couple of days.
At the moment he likes to answer all questions with “No”. He can identify lots of things such as “car”, “apple”, “circle”, “square”, “coffee” and “meow”. Linden also has some verbs well sorted out like “on”, “off”, “out” (used in the sense of a verb!), “up” and “down”. He has a few two-word phrases in his repertoire like, “come on” and “stand up”.
It’s been quite a fun month with him learning words, particularly the ones he can’t pronounce properly. For example, “food” sounds like “fool”; “rice” is “wice; and my personal favourite is “clock” which comes out like “cock”.
