Word explosion

When Linden got to about 18 months, he had a word explosion and his babbles turned into actual words! He was already using “up” so we would pick him up but all of a sudden he started using a new word every couple of days.

At the moment he likes to answer all questions with “No”. He can identify lots of things such as “car”, “apple”, “circle”, “square”, “coffee” and “meow”. Linden also has some verbs well sorted out like “on”, “off”, “out” (used in the sense of a verb!), “up” and “down”. He has a few two-word phrases in his repertoire like, “come on” and “stand up”.

It’s been quite a fun month with him learning words, particularly the ones he can’t pronounce properly. For example, “food” sounds like “fool”; “rice” is “wice; and my personal favourite is “clock” which comes out like “cock”.

Not much new to report except that the Pictures page has been updated with month 17, 18 and 19 photos! Click HERE for the link to main album. Find memorable shots of:

Yay! Next batch of Linden’s photos is complete. Quite a large bunch this time around. We have 63 pictures located HERE. Enjoy!

Linden is now a member of the Chatswood library. He even has a card with his own name on it. So cute!

Since we’ve been going there every Tuesday to participate in the Baby Bounce program I thought it would be convenient to borrow books while we’re there. It’s also a great way for him to learn and explore the wonderful world of reading and also be involve in choosing his books. However instead of choosing the books, he prefers to re-arrange the shelves by throwing all the books within reach onto the floor. And guess who has to pick them up! :D

About a week late but here they are! Click HERE.

Linden guards his pram with a fierce intensity. Do NOT take his hands off his pram!

Photos of Linden in his 14th month are now up! Find them HERE.

There’s a park near where we live that has recently been upgraded. Sutherland Park boasts a brand new swing set, slide, spring-mounted rides and a modern take on a merry-go-round. There is also an exercise station for the adults that I considered for about 2/5ths of a gnats fart and duly ignored.
Anyway we took Linden there one afternoon for a bit of outdoor play and we have not 1, not 2, not even 3 but 4, yes 4 video clips of said playtime!

Firstly, I love watching clips of Linden. This is my number one pastime closely followed by browsing photos of him. With that said, Monica and I captured a great clip of Linden practicing his walking one morning after we finished brunch at Firefly Lodge in Lane Cove. This place sort of a cafe, winebar, tapas place with a great open and rustic feel to it. So anyway back to Linden, he started walking around late January/early February and this clip was taken in March. He’s starting to get the whole walking thing together.

When we were in Perth back in January 2010, we spent a really wonderful day at Rockingham Beach with our immediate and extended family. One of the highlights was getting Linden into the water at the beach which he seemed to enjoy thoroughly! I had almost as much fun as he did!
