I think the title says it all. The paparazzi have gone nuts this month and there are tons of photos! Here’s one of my favourite from this batch…

Monica attended her regular mother’s group this week and as usual, weighed Linden. He’s a whole 4.9kg now including his nappy and jumpsuit. The last few weeks his weight gain seems to have slowed down compared with his first and second month. Linden is still feeding well and has plenty of wet and dirty nappies so I think things should be fine. I read somewhere that he will experience periodic growth spurts and the 3 month mark is one.

Lately it’s been a bit harder to put Linden to sleep at night. We usually rock him in our arms to the point where he is about to drift off and put him down in his cot to fall asleep by himself. However in a matter of minutes he will wake up crying and whinging. This is repeated without success and one of us has to go to pick him up for a cuddle. What a naughty boy!

We’ve noticed that this commotion has been happening at around 9:00pm almost every night for the past week. After an hour or so he appears normal again and falls asleep in peace. It’s funny because during the day he has no problems sleeping and settling by himself. I can only assume that he is seeking extra attention when daddy is home or maybe just giving his daddy a hard time whilst he is taking over from mummy to give her a little break.

We both think this is hilarious. Ivan calls this the ‘witching hour’ :)

I’ve noticed that Linden is starting to dislike the bottle. He gets all whingy and pushes the teat out of his mouth and consequently any milk that he’s sucked. Now I like boobs as much as the next guy but this is just not on ;) I try to bottle-feed him in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday morning to give Monica a break but I think I’m going to have to relinquish those feeds!

It’s both good and bad because I get more sleep but Monica doesn’t get the periodic rests she needs. Moreover I miss out on having a monologue with him while he feeds – hopefully he has been listening to what I’ve been telling him about the virtues of integrity and doing the right thing.

Maybe we need to warm the milk a little more, or perhaps switch over to a higher flow teat. At any rate I hope this is just a phase he’s going through. Otherwise, how will I be able to handle him alone for longer than 3 hours (the period between feeds)?

Today at Mothers Group, the nurse talked about the importance of ‘Play & Development’ with your baby. She asked for a volunteer to help demonstrate a few of the play activities so I volunteered Linden to demonstrate ‘tummy time’. He did this perfectly. I guess the extra ‘tummy time’ I’ve given him recently has certainly paid off.  He made his mummy so proud :)

I also mentioned that Linden has been rolling from his tummy to his back on a couple of occasions during tummy time and initially I thought it was a fluke, however he proved me wrong by doing this again in front of everyone. Apparently the milestone for rolling from tummy to back is around 4 – 5 months, so it looks like Linden is a fast developer!

Currently at 9 weeks Linden weighs 4.8kg (with light clothing & a clean nappy on). He has consistently put on 100 – 150 grams over the last couple of weeks. The next growth spurt is at 12 weeks, by then he should well and truely break the 5kg mark.

Linden had his 8 weeks check up at the Early Childhood Centre in Chatswood today. He was very well behaved as the nurse was doing the assessment and measurements. He is currently 4.65kg (with light clothing & nappy), 56 cm long and his head circumference is 37.5cm. All in all he is progressing well, the only thing the nurse mentioned was that he needs more ‘tummy time’ to help strengthen his neck muscle.  So from now on I will be giving him ‘tummy time’ after every feed instead of just once a day.  Good boy, Linden :)

The next check up will be when he is 6 months old.

At 2 months old, Linden looks like a different baby and has learn to do a number of different things.

He is no longer the scrawny baby we took home from the hospital. His face is fuller, his cheeks are a lot chubbier and they are in danger of being pinched by his many adoring fans. He even has a double chin :)

At 2 months old, Linden likes to smile and talk back to his mummy and daddy. He even smiles while he is sleeping, doing his classic ‘lopsided smile’; it’s so cute!!! Linden is also a talker. You can often hear him making ‘ooh’ and ‘ungh’ sounds. I’ve even managed to have a 30 second conversation whilst changing his nappies.

Linden has also discovered that he has saliva and likes to play with it. He enjoys blowing bubbles or just leaves spit at the tip of his mouth and then sucks it back in.

So far Linden appears easy going and is generally a happy baby, let’s hope he keeps this good behaviour up and makes his mummy and daddy’s life easy.

Below are some pictures of Linden at 2 months old. You can also see this gallery in the Pictures link at the top of the page, in the navigation bar.

Monica took Linden for his immunisation yesterday. He was such a good boy! One oral and two simultaneous needles (right thigh, left thigh) then it was all over. Linden only cried just a little bit but calmed down very quickly after Mummy-Monny gave him a cuddle.

He had a low-grade fever last night so we syringed some liquid Panadol for babies into his mouth. Again he was such a good boy. Played with it in his mouth a little and took it all aside from a bit of chin-droolage.

Well I’ve finally done it and some of you have already noticed. I registered the domain amigohs.com and am using it for our blogs! Had to patch up some of the old posts because the links to the pictures got broken when I changed the URL.
