I love Linden’s game face. You know, the one he puts on when he’s making a present for mummy and daddy. The process can be accompanied by groaning noises and when it’s all said and done, voila – freshly baked brownies.
Baking brownies - just started.
Baking brownies - nearly there.
Baking brownies - ding!

P.S. New pictures added to gallery – Linden’s Month 7 pictures.

Linden has started to crawl in the last couple of days (he is only 7 and a half month). He has finally made the transition from ‘rocking on all fours’ during the past few weeks to actually crawling. And boy is he fast :) Leave him alone for 30 seconds and he’s either headed towards the vertical blinds or the TV bench. It’s hard work trying to keep up with him, he has so much energy.

He has also started to sit lopsided, leading towards the right butt cheek, it’s quiet a funny sight. He can also pull himself up into a standing position. He loves to stand on his ‘Winnie the Pooh’ baby sofa and especially in the cot, pulling at the wooden panels and acts as if he is being locked up :P

Gone are the days where we can leave him on the floor to play and he stays in the same spot. We’ll have to buy a playpen, maybe a helmet, some knee pads and child proof the apartment.

I took Linden to the immunisation clinic last Thursday for his 6 month jab. He was due for this last month but it has been delayed because we were in Perth at the time. The other reason is because the clinic only provides this service on the first Thursday of each month so instead of going to the GP (even longer waiting time) I waited until the next scheduled date.

Despite my effort to get to the clinic earlier this time around I still had to wait for about an hour or so. As usual the registration process was held up by a few people. I later found out the reason was because they had one mum from the UK and another from Congo so extra time and effort was spent cross referencing the immunisation schedule to ensure they don’t double up on the vaccines.

Linden did very well overall, he had a good sleep in the pram on the way home.

No more jabs until he is 12 month, I bet he’s happy about that :)

I took Linden to his first swim class on Saturday at the North Shore Olympic Pool (NSOP), where I swim. He is enrolled with Badger Swim School in the 6-12mth group, a modest but marked beginning to his Olympic swim career.p1040299

It was tons of fun for Monica, myself and of course Linden though he did start turning a little blue by the end of the half hour session. I thought it was going to be a breeze but I had a hard time keeping up with all the singing, rhymes, activities and exercises. If there was a pop-quiz at the end, there’s no way I’d remember any of the rhymes except for Humpty Dumpty!

p1040302Linden had it easy, being towed around in the water. He didn’t even have to keep afloat – that was my job! All he had to do was kick-kick-kick. He had to do two duck dives which essentially meant I plowed him under the water for a second. He handled it pretty well and only had a bit of a whinge the second time. I don’t think he swallowed much, if any water at all! That was probably a good thing as the heated pool is probably bacteria city.

p1040307At the end of the session, we got him home quickly and into a warm bath to get some colour back into him. So far so good. He doesn’t seem to be averse to water and quite happily froggy kicks around. Now where can I buy those Olympic-record-breaking, full-body suits in size 000?

I took Linden to Chatswood Library last Tuesday to participate in the ‘Baby Bounce’ program (the first of 5 sessions). The program is aimed at 0 – 24 month old babies. It is filled with nursery rhymes, popular songs, story time and a chance to meet other mums. Coincidentally, three other mums from my mothers group was also there. We hung around after the session catching up on the last month, so now I’m up-to-date with all the ‘baby’ gossip :P

During the session we sang songs which involved interaction from the babies such as waving their hands, finger play etc. I think Linden especially enjoyed the songs which involved alot of jumping up and down (as if he needed an excuse to do so) and clapping. Linden had a good time and I got to learn some new songs, yeah :)
