Linden was playing with his 2 in 1 car/walker the other day and I noticed that he pushed it along and took a few steps. He has finally figured out how to drag his legs along every time he pushes the car forward. So now I don’t have to worry about him landing flat on his face :) He looks ever so cute pushing the car around the apartment and has a great big smile on his face as if to say “Look at me Mummy, I’m so good”

I think Linden might be walking soon and that can only mean one thing; HEADACHE!!  We haven’t child proof the apartment yet (something which we must do pretty soon) and I can just imagine how tiring it’s going to be running after him, he is after all, very active. I feel exhausted just thinking about it. Having said that, it’s going to be exciting when he takes his first independent step.

I took Linden to his first Gymbaroo class today (9 week course) and he had a great time. Two of the mums from my mothers group is also enrolled in the same class so it was great to see some familiar faces.

During a 45 minutes class, we basically sing, dance, doing exercises and spend time on the specially designed equipment (sort of like a baby gym) so the babies can develop their motor skills. Linden really likes the equipment, he enjoyed playing on the trampoline and even had a go at the roman rings. His biceps had a real workout today. He was such a cheeky monkey crawling all over the place and even tried to monopolise a toy truck during one of the activities.

As expected Linden was exhausted after the class, he practically scull the bottle and had a good nap :)

Since about 7 & half months, Linden has been on three solid meals a day. So far he likes most things, he’s not particularly fussy (like his Daddy) or appear to have an allergic reaction to anything yet, PHEW! This makes it easy for me to cook for him and I can experiment with different ingredients. I love watching his reaction when I give him something that has a powerful taste (e.g. capsicum) to try, he would scrunch his face up and then continue to eat it anyway :D

Linden’s menu includes; breakfast – yoghurt, fruit & fingers of toast, lunch – instant porridge with fruit puree or weetbix with cottage cheese & fruit, dinner – meat/fish with veggies. He’s diet is very healthy indeed, he is setting a good example for Mummy and Daddy :P

Overall Linden is a pretty good eater, he really likes sweet potatoe and since I’ve given him bread, its become one of his favourite food. Like mother like son because I like bread too. So all he needs now is to be able to eat peanut butter (crunchy of course) and we’re set. He is gradually putting on a bit more weight, so let’s hope he continues to enjoy his food and have a healthy appetite.

"Check out my sweet, sweet ride."

"Check out my sweet, sweet ride."

We’ve taken Linden shopping a few times but it was only in the last couple of weeks or so that we decided to stick him into the trolley. He seemed quite happy with his new ride and it makes shopping for us much easier.

Linden prefers to face the direction he’s travelling though, which means he always twists around in his seat to look towards the front. It doesn’t seem to bother him but I would find that seating position uncomfortable. At least he gets to play with the top of the celery bunch in the trolley!

It’s Ivan’s 31st birthday today. I baked a lemon and yoghurt cake and we went out for dinner at one of the local sushi train restaurant that has recently opened up. Linden was busy munching on the celery sticks and playing with the tupperware whilst we were eating. It was a quick but enjoyable meal. After we put Linden to bed, we had cake and tea for dessert and just relaxed :)

Linden is officially 9 months old today, soon he will be a toddler and not our little ‘baby’ anymore. Time has literally flown by. Nine months ago he was no more than a few cells growing inside me, I can still recall the first ultrasound image of him.

Linden is very easy going, he eats when he is hungry, sleeps when he is tired, he likes to crawl (current hobby) but most of all he loves to bounce and do ‘frog’ kicks with his legs. He is simply adorable and very, very kissable :D We are very lucky to have him, he is so much fun to have around, the sound of his laughter is infectious and priceless. He really is our bundle of joy :)

Linden is now approximately 8 kgs & 69 cm long.

I’ve got virtually all of Linden’s month 9 photos up into the gallery. We’ve taken a few more that will be tacked on soon but there’s really probably only a handful of these. Enjoy!

Linden will be 9 months in a few days time so I thought it may be time to wean him. He has also lost interest in milk and has four very sharp teeth so I don’t think I should be delaying it any longer.

I started to re-introduce the bottle to him at about 8 months and it’s been an interesting and challenging experience. When I first tried to put the bottle to his mouth he would purse his tiny lips, turn his head side to side, arch his back and say ‘mmm, mmm, mmm’. He would whinge, whinge, whinge and sometimes cry. He acted as if I was torturing him, he was not happy. Then one day out of the blue (it might have been the third or fourth) I decided to give him some expressed milk and lo and behold he drank the whole thing. I was gobsmacked and so happy, finally my effort was not wasted. But of course I was happy way too soon because for the next few days after that he decided he didn’t like the bottle again, ARRRGHHH it was so frustrating and also alot of wastage. However this blog does have a good ending because after another week or so of trying he finally accepted the bottle. Yeah, peace on earth!  He now drinks up to 3 bottles a day of approximately 100 – 150 mls which is still below the recommended dosage for his age but I’m not worry because I’m still breastfeeding him. The good news is that Ivan can now feed him again. He has been giving Linden a bottle before bed for the past couple of nights without any dramas. I wonder if I can disappear unnoticed for a few days :P

Now if there’s one thing motherhood has taught me and that is to be persistent. Just because they don’t like something the first time, keep trying, again & again & again & again because eventually it will happen so don’t give up. Who said being a mother is boring :D

It was probably around the middle of last week that Linden began sitting himself up. Prior to this he had a very casual sideways, lounging style but has now developed enough strength and balance to push himself into a sitting position.

I really enjoy watching him play on his own. He crawls to a toy, grabs it and pushes himself onto his bum. Then there is general flailing of arms and toy, vocal merriment and an almost sheepish grin when he sees me watching him!
